Love this article. I find that often when I am with family or friends these topics come up. I’ve had to speak to people on numerous occasions about not discussing in front of my kids. Many of my patients struggle around holiday time for this very reason.

Remarks about a person's appearance and health can be extremely damaging β€” and flat out wrong.

Are you ready for some football? 🏈
More importantly, do you have a food plan for tonight?

𝙀𝙖𝙩 π™π™žπ™œπ™π™© 𝙋𝙑𝙖𝙣 offers lifestyle changes and a whole-body approach to eating right. We understand that there are days when our favorite foods will be the highlight. It’s important that you don’t feel that your food plan has deprived you of everything. Let’s talk about some tools to combat over-eating tonight.

1- Before the Super Bowl, eat a healthy meal. This will allow you to get the proper nutrition into your body and you won’t be hungry, which can lead to poor food choices and overeating.

2- Pick your top priority. Is it that favorite sweet, a beverage, or the nachos? Or a tiny bit of each πŸ˜‰

3- Like always, drink lots of water. It will help you to stay full and hydrated.

4-If headed out, bring a healthy dish that you can enjoy. Then you can be sure there is something for you to graze on.

Cheers to an awesome Super Bowl. πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Thanksgiving is well known for overindulgence of food. Here are some Thanksgiving survival tips to help minimize overeating at the festive meal!

πŸ¦ƒ Eat breakfast and lunch as you normally would. If you skip meals before eating to β€œsave calories” you are setting yourself up to overeat.

πŸ¦ƒLimit alcohol. Not only do the calories add up but alcohol will prevent you from recognizing hunger/satiety cues.

πŸ¦ƒ Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Going into a meal with good hydration status will help prevent overeating.

πŸ¦ƒ Keep to your exercise routine. It will help you feel good and energized.

πŸ¦ƒ When making your plate load up on non-starchy vegetables and turkey. Limit the sides to one-third of your plate.

πŸ¦ƒ At meal time and dessert time look around the table to see what there is before making a choice. Choose to have the dessert or side that you enjoy the most and skip the others.

Most importantly enjoy the day and focus on what there is to be thankful for!

Nutrition....

Nutrition is important for everyone. A healthy diet can help you manage your weight, prevent many diseases, alleviate symptoms of disease, and can even make you feel more energetic.

It is difficult in today’s society to understand what is good for you. Many diets allow you to lose weight quickly but then the weight is regained when the dieting stops. Registered dietitians have been trained to set realistic, easy to follow goals that do not eliminate anything you enjoy to eat.

Speak to a registered dietitian about creating a diet plan specifically for you.
