If you’ve ever wished for a place to stretch your legs and clear your head while traveling I-95, you’re in luck. Tucked away in the heart of Ridgeland, the Blue Heron Nature Trail is a gentle loop where towering pines sway overhead and turtles skim the pond’s surface.

Locals know it as a favorite spot for a mid-drive picnic or a chance to let the kids run out their wiggles. Early mornings are magic here, when the mist rises off the water and the only sounds are birdsong and your footsteps along the path.

The wooden boardwalk over the wetlands is a great spot to watch for herons and turtles basking in the sun.
