Check for breathing by looking, listening and feeling for air coming from the victim's nose and mouth between 5-10 seconds. To provide breaths:Tilt the victim's head back and lift their chin. Seal your lips or barrier device over the victim's mouth and give two breaths, each lasting about one second. Watch for chest rise with each breath.Relief of choking for a conscious infant:Give five back blows by supporting the infant face down on your forearm, with the head lower than the body, and striking between the shoulder blades with your hand. If the object isn't dislodged, turn the infant face up on your forearm and give up to five chest thrusts with two fingers in the center of the chest, just below the ni**le line. Repeat this cycle of 5 back blows and 5 chest thrusts until the infant can breathe, cough, or cry, or until they become unresponsive. If the infant becomes unresponsive, begin CPR and check the mouth for the object after each set of compressions.
