SAMHSA promotes Crisis Intervention Teaming (CIT) as “a globally recognized model for safely and effectively assisting people with mental and substance use disorders who experience crises in the community. The CIT Model promotes strong community partnerships among law enforcement, behavioral health providers, people with mental and substance use disorders, along with their families and others.”

Join National Federation of Families on Wednesday, August 6th, to learn how communities like yours can implement a CIT Model that ensures that law enforcement, individuals with serious mental illness and serious emotional disturbance, and their families can work together to prevent behavioral health crises from escalating to justice system involvement.

It can be hard to know what to do when you or a loved one are feeling overwhelmed, or experiencing mental health symptoms, like anxiety, or depression. But NAMI's free support groups can help.

Studies show that support group participation improves mental health outcomes by creating community, fostering connection and leading to a sense of belonging.
