The University of Southern Mississippi's Nurse Anesthesia Program achieves a coveted 10-year accreditation from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthetists (COA), symbolizing a commitment to top-tier education and leadership in the field. Provost Lance Nail emphasizes that this maximum accreditation further enhances USM's reputation, acknowledging the rigorous process ensuring excellence.

Since 2013, the program has graduated 153 students, with a small student-to-faculty ratio, diverse clinical sites, and a comprehensive curriculum setting it apart. Dr. Lachel Story, Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions, sees this 10-year accreditation as the highest recognition of the superior education their nurse anesthesia students receive, preparing them for top-quality care. As the demand for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) grows nationwide, USM's program plays a crucial role in addressing Mississippi's anesthesia provider shortage, especially in rural areas. 💙🏥
