Free meal at Summerville Baptist thanks to Katie's Krops starting around 4PM today! This is a drive thru event! Nobody should go to sleep hungry.

A Friendly Reminder~

It is Katie's Krops Dinner day!

We will start serving at 4pm, earlier if possible, at Summerville Baptist, at 417 Central Ave. in Summerville. The dinner is always free and is served drive-thru style.

Two important reminders:

We will not be able to answer calls, messages, emails, or comments on posts today as we are working to prepare and serve 700 meals. I appreciate your understanding.

Please use caution in the parking lot and follow the volunteers' guidance. We want everyone to be safe and have a positive experience. Please roll down your window or open your car door so you can communicate easily with our volunteers directing traffic in the parking area.

We look forward to serving you today!

This American Heart Month, make a pledge to eat a healthy diet that’s low in fat, cholesterol and salt. Include 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. And if you use ni****ne, try quitting with free, 24/7 quit support from the SC To***co Quitline (1-800-QUIT-NOW). Ni****ne raises blood pressure and causes hardening of the arterial walls, which can cause a heart attack.

The coaches at the SC To***co Quitline can help you quit any type of to***co product. Enroll for services online, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, or text ‘READY’ to 34191 to learn more. Learn more about ways to reduce your risk of heart disease at: dph.sc.gov/hearthealth

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) encourages South Carolinians to show love to their heart, their lungs, and their loved ones by quitting ni****ne products.

Smoking is a major risk factor for cardiovascular (heart) disease, and data show that cigarette smokers have a 70% greater chance of dying of heart disease than nonsmokers. Secondhand smoke from smoking also causes heart attacks and severe asthma attacks in non-smokers. In fact, non-smokers exposed to secondhand smoke are 25-30% more likely to develop heart disease.

While the connection between cigarette smoke and cardiovascular disease is well known, growing research shows that va**ng ni****ne can cause similar heart damage to smoking. Ni****ne in any form increases your heart rate and raises your blood pressure, putting more strain on your heart and increasing the risk of a heart attack.
