Don’t delay your mammogram if you have just been vaccinated. At WDI we know what to look for and what to do. The vaccine may enlarge lymph nodes, but we know what reactive lymph nodes look like and when to let them go. We recognize truly suspicious findings and work those up immediately.

Screening with digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) has a higher sensitivity for breast cancer detection and reduces the rate of interval breast cancers compared to screening with digital mammography, according to a study published in 'Radiology'.

DBT works by capturing a series of X-ray images of the breast from different angles, improves detection of rapidly growing cancers with poorer prognosis and therefore contributes to lower breast cancer mortality.

The study group included almost 15,000 women who were screened with DBT and digital mammography. Those women were matched with a control group of more than 26,000 women who had only digital mammography screening during the same time period.

Are you due or overdue for a mammogram? Doctors are seeing more advanced cancers in women in women who wait! WDI’s Covid prevention protocols make screening safe and comfortable. If you've recently been vaccinated, let us know and we will factor that into your exam results. Don’t delay due to Covid or Covid vaccine concerns!

Appointments for mammograms and other tests to detect potential cancers were canceled during lockdowns, possibly leading to undiagnosed malignancies. In some cases, the delay has come at a great cost.
