In May we are being served a reminder to actively orient towards the magic that surrounds us. Our nervous system will want to focus on what’s scary to prepare us to do what it takes to survive - the problem is that this moment offers and all you can eat buffet of dangers that could drown out any awareness of the resources around us.

The five of pentacles reversed validates that, yes, things are fu***ng dire for so many of us right now AND that there may be support closer than you imagine if you let yourself look for it. Listen to Mr. Roger’s and look for the helpers folks!

While the queen of wands reversed - lovingly known as the witch of the tarot - and the Magician reversed encouraged us to find the magical in the most mundane. Speak spells into your morning coffee, offer gratitude to the sidewalk as you get your ass to work, let yourself linger in a state of awe at the plants blooming outside on your lunch break. It’s the little bits of magic that fill our tanks to meet this moment in history with courage.

For February’s monthly tarot for the collective we’re being served up the Knight of Pentacles reversed, Queen of Pentacles reversed, and Five of wands, you guessed it! Reversed! Looks like a topsy turvy kind of month.

As we’re settling i to the new year we might still have a sense of difficulty getting projects or new self care practices started. And doesn’t that make all the sense in the world, given that we are witnessing the rise of a fascist regime. Even though we may intellectually know what’s making it hard to do anything but tread water right now, we’re probably still feeling impatient about it.

How does that impatience influence our ability to be in our body and to caretake our sweet little selves? If it feels more challenging right now, ask if you can slow yourself down a bit and go at the pace that your body, mind and spirit are needing.

We find ourselves halfway through January, living in a world where turns of fate happen at a breakneck pace. From the fires in LA, to ongoing, multiple genocides and an incoming wave of fascism - our nervous systems are likely telling us to run or fight. We may be sensing pressure to speed up, or risk losing what we hope for in our lives or having the world we’re dreaming into existence slip through our fingers.

And as we move through this activation, can we heed the invitation of the page of pentacles to slow down when we are able? Can we practice cultivating the discernment to recognize when it is safe enough to slow down? And when you are able to move at a gentler pace, what do you sense that your body and spirit are needing in THIS moment?

Dear Friends,In this month's collective pull we drew the Six of Cups in reverse in the "What's the Medicine?" position. The Six of Cups in reverse in the "What's the Medicine?" position is reminding us that we can look back at our lineage to learn more about where our behavioral patterns might have originated. Does this state of conflict belong to us? Is it possible that if these struggles aren't really ours to begin with, we might find ways of helping them dissipate? Can we learn to heal our ancestral wounds from Chiron, the Wounded Healer, during this period of retrograde? One thing I love about the Six of Cups is the implication that we can be cycle breakers in our lifetimes. The other is the implication that we have help in the form of internal resources as well as our loving and benevolent ancestors or guides.

This month, use these journaling prompts to take a closer look at the ways in which you experience and respond to breaking intergenerational cycles, and let us know how they land!

CARD OF THE WEEK : King of Swords 🗡️

In the tarot, Kings offer us an invitation to explore how we embody leadership in our lives and communities. As we find ourselves in the last few days of Mercury Retrograde, the King of Swords is asking us to consider how to be a skillful leader through our communication. - spoiler alert, the loudest person in the room isn’t necessarily embodying effective leadership.

Take some time in the coming days to practice pausing before you throw your gut reaction into the group chat. Is the thought I’m having one that needs to be expressed outwardly? If so, is this the best moment? Sometimes the answer is yes! But can we practice the pause with curiosity? An effective leader knows how to wield their sword with discernment.

It's December, and you may find yourself naturally slowing down and shifting gears into the Winter season. This year, this natural shift may be propelled by Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus and Chiron stationing retrograde for the majority of this month. This month's collective tarot pull feels like an invitation to really lean into the slower, introspective energies of the season and these retrogrades to work on some deep healing. The Five of Wands in the "What's Happening?" position is letting us know that conflict is coming up for us. The Queen of Coins in reverse in the "What's the Vibration?" position suggests here that the conflict coming up is around resources and abundance. With Jupiter in retrograde, it makes a ton of sense that we'd be experiencing scarcity fears at this time! Are you experiencing interpersonal conflicts around money or material resources or even time? Are you experiencing an internal reckoning around how you use your resources? Are you feeling resentful and burnt out from taking care of everyone but yourself? The Six of Cups in reverse in the "What's the Medicine?" position is reminding us that we can look back at our lineage to learn more about where these experiences and behavioral patterns might have originated. This month, we wish for those inner resources to be easily accessible to us all. This deck is the Fountain Tarot by Jonathan Saiz and Jason Gruhl.

Friends,The three of pentacles in reverse showed up in November's collective tarot pull. It felt to us like a reminder to access the resources of the people in our lives and the community of care that we've all worked so hard to build, especially during times of fear and despair.

Use these affirmations to identify community resources and give yourself permission to access them. Let us know how these affirmations land for you!

CARD OF THE WEEK: Surrender

Upon pulling the Surrender card for this week I noticed a slight recoiling within myself. Surrender has always felt tricky for me, maybe for you too? Maybe for all of us?

As I took a moment to get curious about this idea, I noticed that my brain had translated surrender into “giving up” and a sense of powerlessness. Maybe practicing surrender isn’t giving up, but an acceptance of what is not ours to control, leaving us with more energy to pour into what is in our control.

Consider this an invitation to take time in the coming days to get curious about your relationship to surrender. Let us know in the comments ⬇️!

Dear Friends,In this month's collective pull we drew the King of Cups in the "What's the Medicine?" position. We view this card as an invitation to us all to work toward a sovereign's healthy detachment from the grime and the muck of being fully immersed in our feelings. In other words, can we zoom out this month from being in the emotional trenches? There is a balance that is called for here - to feel your feelings, allow for authentic emotional reactions and also to do something else. To self-soothe instead of self-indulging. Can we allow for some emotional distance in order to reserve our energy for when there are actions we can take? In this King's arms is a bouquet of lavender that suggests to me that there are inner resources that we have and we can access to maintain calm and peace.

This month, use these journaling prompts to take a closer look at the ways in which you might work on healthy detachment, and let us know how they land!

Dear Friends,In this month's collective pull we drew Figwort, which asks us to strip away all artifice and take a look at who we are at our core. This dovetails nicely with this week's full moon in Aries, which gives us permission to have courage, to be bold and to confront what we want to change in order to change it.

Using Figwort as your guide and your ally, can you dig deeper to find your Self? What does Self mean to you? Where is Self located in your body? How can you work with the Self you present to ensure it feels aligned and authentic?

This month, use these journaling prompts to take a closer look at the ways in which you experience and respond to Self, and let us know how they land!

RIDGEWOOD MOOD BOARD - Squirrelfriends Edition
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dear friends,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that squirrels are responsible for planting thousands of new trees a year, through the process of hiding (and forgetting) the nuts and acorns they bury for the winter? I love this, partially because squirrels are adorable, helpful dweebs and partially because it reminds me of the DBT mindfulness skill of feeling into the interconnectedness between organisms and their environment. As beings sharing the environment with other beings, what we put out will impact others and what they put out will impact us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember this as we approach the Aries Full Moon. Aries is a sign of passion, of action, of boldness and courage, and it can also be a sign of impulsiveness, of aggression and irritation and of self-centered grandiosity. Can we approach this period of Aries energy harnessing the boldness, the courage and the passion, but with the eye on the balance, the harmony and the interconnectedness of Libra season?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In reverence for the theme of intentional action and interconnection with our environment, I’d like to remind y’all that we’re a drop-off location for donations of food, clothing and Halloween candy for . Please drop something off next time you come through!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
xoxo,
Lauren
