Photography classes are one of the many specialized programs offered to the clients in The Day Programs @ Life Opportunities Unlimited.

This program is built on a universal design for learning framework, in order to foster an inclusive program and eliminate barriers.

This year's theme is "Where We Live," a collection of photos from the towns where LOU's clients reside. Be sure to check out this year's viewing at Art in the Park at Van Saun Park this Saturday, October 11th!

For the last 80 years, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has regularly proclaimed the month of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

This yearly event began in 1945 as a weeklong national observance of the contributions made in the workforce by people with disabilities. (dol.gov)

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Value and Talent.”

Last week LOU had the opportunity to attend the Columbia Bank Impact Event featuring guest speaker Tim Tebow. LOU would like to thank Tim and his foundation, Tim Tebow Foundation for the work they've done relating to those with disabilities.

Last year, the foundation conducted a rescue mission of over 70 victims of trafficking in Haiti, 59 of them being children with severe disabilities. The rescue team transported them to Jamaica due to increasing gang violence in Haiti, where they received quality care.

Additionally, one of the foundation’s most memorable events that LOU's clients enjoy is the annual Night to Shine. Night to Shine is a complimentary red carpet event for people with special needs sponsored by the foundation & hosted at local churches around the world. There are currently 19 locations across New Jersey with Night to Shine events and over 800 worldwide.

Tebow's takeaway from his speech was challenging the audience to use their gifts and talents for the greater good.

Today we remember the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001🇺🇸🙏

Audrey Jantzen, President of the Bergen County American Legion Auxiliary, Bergen County American Legion "The Big Bee" met with LOU Day Program clients at Van Neste Park in Ridgewood to share the history of 9/11.

The clients who attended the talk left behind 12 American flags at the memorial, one for each of the Ridgewood residents who died that day.
