Wondering how you can have home-cooked meals all the time?
This is a HUGE one for so many of my clients.
I am always recommending home-cooked meals, especially during the healing process, but TIME is a big issue and the knowledge of how to cook.
Many of us weren’t taught to cook growing up, so now we have a kitchen, but no idea how to use it to make food we actually enjoy.
Well, here are my top tips for getting in there, making a mess, and enjoy home-cooked meals more often:
1️⃣ Pick one meal to start having at home every day. I usually find breakfast is the easiest one to start with, but start with whatever one is easiest for you. Get consistent with cooking this one meal at home every day of the week (and not just the same thing every day of the week, but a variety of meals). So, if you choose breakfast, learn how to make an omelet, oatmeal, overnight oats, chia pudding, stewed fruits, french toast, or whatever you enjoy! As you master having one meal at home, venture into adding a second meal time to focus on.
2️⃣ Make it fun!! Dance, sing, laugh. Put on your favorite playlist and sing like no one’s watching. Personally, one of the pups is always in the kitchen waiting for something to drop, so I make them dance with me.
3️⃣ Don’t just head to the grocery store without a list or a meal plan for the week. Have 2-3 meals in mind when you go to the store, so you know you’ll have all the ingredients you need when it comes time to cook.
4️⃣ Start with simple recipes. You don’t need to be Top Chef just yet! Enjoy the simplicity of meals. Honestly, a lot of the meals we cook at home end up being a protein, rice, and a vegetable - nothing fancy at all. Then once a week or so, I will go all out and find a fancy recipe to make and enjoy as a treat!
