🕯️Healing Past Trauma is like building legos
Think of healing like building a difficult Lego set.
Each bag contains different sections of small pieces. This is your past.
Sometimes we ignore the pieces and somehow, the bags tear open and the pieces get mixed into one huge pile. This is rock bottom.
You keep attempting to make the bigger picture of life without understanding the process, just to make mistakes and want to give up. It is overwhelming when there is so much to sort through. It's hard to go through it on your own.
Then one day, you open your eyes and you decide that it is time. You are going to build this life that you see for yourself. But where do you start?
You realize that there is an instruction manual. (resources, shadow work, therapy, loved ones)
You start sorting through the pieces and one by one you start connecting the blocks. This can be challenging. At times you may look at the pile of Legos that seems so big in comparison to what you've managed to build and feel discouraged. In this moment try not to be blind to the work you have put in and all of the beautiful progress you've made. Because even if small, all steps forward are victories.
The process of building takes time. You will require breaks to rest. But you will keep pushing forward.
Then there will come the day when you realize that what you have built is much larger than you thought and greatly out numbers the pile of unmatched blocks. The bigger picture is forming. Things are taking shape. You are managing the building process better. You are more confident in your abilities. You look at how far you have come and notice that all of the work that you have put into the process is paying off. You don't look at the mismatched blocks with a sense of dread. You look at it as parts of the bigger picture. Each block forming one beautiful piece of you. Every hurtful moment. Every happy moment. Every step in your journey has turned you into who you are today. Then one day, you realize that what you are holding is the life that you hoped for. Sure, some pieces may be missing. But you did it. You persevered. You learned to take things in stride. You learned to adapt and overcome. Each new Lego set you encounter, you have learned how to assemble it in a better more effective way. Sometimes it will be uncomfortable and overwhelming but you now know that it is part of the process to get what you are hoping for. You have done what you thought was impossible.
The power is in you. You are the key to your own happiness. Don't be afraid of taking that step. I promise you are worth it.
Remember to celebrate your victories. Do not be discouraged by set backs. Most of all, learn. Learning is endless. Be the best version of yourself that you can be. Do that for you.
