Meet Jacqueline Felczak, LPC, LCADC, ACS Executive Director/ Chief Clinical Officer!

Jacqui has worked in the behavioral health field as a dually licensed clinician for over 23 years. She holds a master’s degree in counseling and a master’s degree in healthcare administration. Throughout her career, she has worked across multiple levels of care in both mental health and substance use treatment. She has led efforts to integrate mental health services into addiction treatment programs. She has trained numerous clinicians at the local and state levels on various behavioral health topics, with a particular focus on co-occurring disorders.

Her latest endeavor centers on incorporating trauma-specific treatment at Avatar Residential Detox Center.
Jacqui has been with Avatar since its doors opened in 2021. As Executive Director and Chief Clinical Officer, she works diligently to ensure clients are treated with respect and dignity. She strongly believes in a non-punitive, collaborative, client-centered approach that reflects the compassionate care she received at Father Martin’s in Maryland over 26 years ago.

Outside of work, she enjoys raising her 11-year-old twins, Ava and Hunter.

Meet “Skip” Eugene McLaughlin!

Skip has been in the addiction treatment field for 37 years. He holds a Master’s Degree in Addiction Studies, is a Certified Addiction Specialist, and was a student assistance counselor for 15 years. Skip was the previous owner and CEO of New Life Recovery Center for over 30 years. Since beginning his recovery journey 39 years ago, he has assisted thousands of individuals in discovering their path to long-lasting recovery. Skip is an integral part of the Avatar team as he facilitates many group sessions and runs our Family Enrichment Program.

Outside his work, he holds a private pilot license and a United States Coast Guard Masters 100-ton Captains License.

Meet Steve, the Director of Client Care Services, who is an integral part of the Avatar team.

With over 35 years of sobriety, Stephen Della Valle brings invaluable firsthand experience and deep personal insight into his work. His journey in recovery allows him to connect with individuals on a profound level, offering not only professional guidance but also genuine empathy and understanding. Stephen Della Valle began his career at Turning Point, Inc. as a volunteer in the late 1990s before joining the Board of Directors in 2001. In 2005, he was appointed President of the Board, a role he held until 2012. Stephen is the author of the critically acclaimed self-help book ‘Rising Above the Influence’ and celebrates over 35 years of sobriety.

Meet Abigail Powell, MA, LCADC Program Director at Avatar Recovery Center!!!!

Abby brings over twenty years of experience in the substance use treatment field as a licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor (LCADC), with a diverse background spanning both inpatient and outpatient care. Throughout her career, she has worked in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, giving her a well-rounded understanding of various treatment models and organizational structures. She has held significant leadership roles as both an administrator and clinical supervisor, where she honed her expertise in program planning, program evaluation, quality improvement, clinical supervision, and compliance monitoring.

Currently serving as the Program Director for Avatar Recovery Center, Abigail is responsible for overseeing the center’s outpatient programs, which include adult partial care, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services. In addition to managing these programs, she also oversees the adolescent intensive outpatient and outpatient programs. Abigail provides ongoing supervision to all clinicians on the Avatar Recovery Center team, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and facilitating the facility’s overall success.

Abigail’s true passion lies in providing clinical counseling, where she plays a vital role in helping individuals navigate their journey to recovery. She is deeply committed to fostering personal growth and well-being for those she serves, and her dedication to excellence in clinical care is reflected in her impactful leadership and hands-on support of both clients and staff.

Meet Victoria Hewitt, MA, LPC, LCADC, ACS Executive Director/Administrator of Avatar Recovery Center!!!

Victoria is a dedicated and compassionate Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health Licensed Clinician with over eight years of experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Holding dual licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), Victoria has developed a strong foundation in evidence-based treatment modalities for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health issues, and co-occurring conditions. Her extensive clinical experience spans multiple settings, including inpatient, outpatient, intensive community-based programs, and private therapy.
In each of these environments, Victoria has honed her ability to work effectively with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, and a wide range of mental health diagnoses. Victoria is deeply committed to enhancing access to mental health and substance use services, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of care delivery. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to providing high-quality care to individuals with diverse mental health and substance use needs, ensuring that services are accessible, effective, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Whether in the private practice setting or community-based work, she is dedicated to treating each client with dignity and respect, tailoring treatment to meet the individual needs of each person and fostering a safe, nonjudgmental space for recovery.
