Rio Grande City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center We provide short and long-term skilled nursing care that helps older adults achieve true wellness. We are a non-profit, and that’s an important difference.

Our focus is on strengthening the families and communities we care for. Post-operative care, Wound Care, IV Therapy, and an in-house rehabilitation team are some services that make our facility different. Unlike others who contract their therapists, we have an in-house therapy team. This means our goal is to have patients and residents see the same occupational, speech, or physical therapists daily, which builds a strong line of trust and rapport.

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month!

🔍 Did you know? According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), older adults with hearing loss are three times more likely to experience falls. Hearing is essential for balance and spatial awareness, making early detection and support critical for injury prevention.

👂 As we age, many factors can affect hearing.

🥄 Speech-language pathologists and audiologists play a key role in helping patients and residents communicate clearly, eat safely, and stay connected—supporting both health and independence!

Honelio started his career with us just two years ago as a Graduate Vocational Nurse, and quickly worked his way to earning his LVN. But he didn’t stop there—his hard work and dedication paid off as he continued his training and became a certified RN last year! 🩺

This week, we celebrated National Jelly Bean Day with our team, and we made it extra fun with a "guess how many jelly beans are in the jar" challenge! In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we teamed up with our Wellsential Health sister facility to create a positive impact in our community!

We were proud to volunteer at the Rio Grande City Animal Control Department, where team members helped care for the animals and showed them some love and attention! We also donated food and essential supplies to support their ongoing efforts!

It was a meaningful experience giving back and connecting with our in such a special way. ✨

We're excited to be part of the America Gives initiative as we celebrate the U.S. Semi-quincentennial—joining one of the largest volunteer efforts in our nation's history! 💙
