Starr County Nursing and Transitional Care

Starr County Nursing and Transitional Care We provide short and long-term skilled nursing care that helps older adults achieve true wellness. We are a non-profit, and that’s an important difference.

Our focus is on strengthening the families and communities we care for. Post-operative care, Wound Care, IV Therapy, and an in-house rehabilitation team are some services that make our facility different. Unlike others who contract their therapists, we have an in-house therapy team. This means our goal is to have patients and residents see the same occupational, speech, or physical therapists daily, which builds a strong line of trust and rapport.

Please join us in celebrating the heart of the family, our parents! 💙

Today, on National Parents' Day, we honor the parents and grandparents who've built families, shaped communities, and shared a lifetime of wisdom with us. Many of the patients and residents in our care are the foundation of multiple generations, and we're proud to care for them. 💌

🎉 Happy Birthday to our Director of Rehabilitation, Myrna! 🥳 Wishing you the best year yet! 💙

🧠 Today is World Brain Day! We’re taking a moment to highlight the many ways we can support brain health, especially as we age. We encourage patients and residents to stay engaged through activities such as puzzles, reading, and group discussions. Daily movement, such as gentle stretching or walking, helps keep both the body and brain strong.

A healthy diet, adequate sleep, social connections, and effective management of chronic conditions are vital for maintaining cognitive health. For aging adults, social activity promotes independence and improves quality of life. Regular medical check-ups help in the early detection of cognitive issues, such as mild cognitive impairment and dementia.

Let’s keep our brains active, engaged, and supported every day — not just on World Brain Day! To learn more about brain health, follow the World Federation of Neurology - WFN. ✨️
