“Here's my story about the sensational dental services I received at River Smiles Dental. PreCOVID-19, I had two temporary crowns placed. Two weeks later when my new permanent crowns arrived, we were under the Stay at Home order. Over the next month the temps held up fairly well. Then, one day - I had some pain. I called Dr. Watkins to discuss. She mentioned that I should consider having the permanents on more sooner than later, thereby avoiding the excruciating pain I could feel should one or both temps fall off and/or avoiding the possibility of a root canal or two.

Because there's no telling how long this pandemic will go on for, yet terrified at the thought of going to the dentist to have work done with my mouth agape, I made the hard decision to go ahead with having the permanents placed. The night before, I got cold feet and called Dr. Watkins. She was empathetic and so patient, explaining how the appointment would go and how she and her assistant would be fully donned in PPE; given these unique times, I gained a renewed sense of trust in her abilities.

Thank you everyone for your patience! We have been updating the office to make it as safe as possible. We are open for treatment starting the May 18th and will be resuming cleanings on May 26th. We will be calling you if your appointment was cancelled. Please call and leave a message if you would like to schedule an appointment. We are checking messages even if we aren’t able to answer the phone regularly. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again!

**CORNA VIRUS COVID-19 UPDATE**

To our patients,

As healthcare professionals, the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff, and their families has always and will always be our top priority. We are experiencing an unprecedented chain of events in our country, and difficult decisions are being placed before us.

Due to the strong recommendation of the CDC and the American Dental Association, we must temporarily close our office due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With our profession falling into the highest risk category for infection and transmission, we feel this is the safest measure to take to protect our patients, our staff, and our community. Our goal is to reopen April 13, but as you know, this event is an ever-changing landscape. We promise to keep you, our valued patients, informed of any changes via our Facebook and our website, as well as by phone.

We will be checking voicemail periodically, email regularly and will be available to advise for DENTAL EMERGENCIES. We are only accepting calls from CURRENT PATIENTS at this time. New Patients will be welcome once our office reopens.

According to our current guidelines, a true dental emergency includes the following situations:

*Severe Toothache (thumping or throbbing that prevents sleep and/or daily functioning)
*Swelling of gums, face, or neck
*Bleeding in the mouth that does not stop
*Trauma (such as broken teeth due to injury)

Feel Free to call or email if you have a question or are experiencing any of the above scenarios. Please do not go to the emergency room or urgent care for dental needs. Please call us and we will advise you.

We will be contacting all scheduled patients to reschedule their appointments for a future date.

To all of our valued patients: due to the recent Coronavirus concern we would like to explain how we sanitize our office. We want to assure everyone we follow all universal precautions. All dental rooms are wiped down fully on all surfaces between every single patient with disinfecting wipes (that kill all viruses including the Coronavirus) plastic barriers are placed where appropriate and all instruments are sterilized in an autoclave. The entire office is cleaned daily and the waiting area is wiped down with disinfectant wipes throughout the day. Hand sanitizer is at our front desk for all patients and staff. Everyone washes their hands between every single patient several times a day with antibacterial soap. You can be rest assured we are following all the appropriate guidelines regarding cleanliness and disinfection of our entire office and dental instruments. We do ask if you are ill to please cancel your appointment and follow your doctor’s orders. Please keep us updated of any diagnosis you have so we can protect our staff and other patients. Thank you for understanding and we assure you we are doing everything we can to make sure our office is safe for all.
