A common misconception about baby teeth is that they don't need to be taken care of because "they are just going to fall out." Leaving bad decay on a tooth that is not ready to come out can cause damage to the permanent teeth that are forming underneath the baby teeth. It is also important to floss between any baby teeth that are touching. It helps to clean them and to build healthy oral hygiene habits. 🦷

Q: When should I schedule my child's first dental appointment?

A: While some offices suggest you have your child seen as soon as they have teeth coming into their mouths, we like to recommend waiting until they are around 3 years old, unless there is a specific concern or an emergency. We like to make the experience the least traumatic as possible. At 3 years old, kids typically have all of their primary/baby teeth in, and they are old enough to start understanding what the appointment is for and how important it is to keep their teeth clean. 🦷🪥
