Forever Grateful to Kinnic Falls šŸ’™

"In March 2021, I completed the program at Kinnic Falls—and it changed my life.

During my time there, I began healing and rebuilding relationships with my family during weekend passes. I started working again and slowly got back on my feet financially. After graduating, I transitioned into sober living, and though the beginning was tough, I learned from my mistakes and truly embraced recovery.

I became part of AA—not just someone who showed up, but someone who showed up for others. I started sponsoring guys, became a manager at the sober house I lived in, and even returned to Kinnic a few times to share my experience, strength, and hope with the men there.

Those moments helped me discover my purpose: helping others. I went back to school, completed college, and in December, I began working as a Substance Abuse Counselor.

None of this would’ve been possible without the incredible support from the staff at Kinnic Falls. You believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. Thank you for helping me—and so many others—find recovery and purpose."

Recovery works! Matt was the 2nd to donate to Kinnic Falls for this year's Recovery Month (September). Thank you, Matt!

🌟 Alumni Spotlight: Mark Romero’s Journey 🌟

In 2017, Mark Romero came through our doors as a client, ready to take the first steps toward a new life. What followed was nothing short of remarkable.

After completing our program, Mark joined Kinnic Falls Inc. as a Unit Office Technician, where he served with dedication from July 2018 to July 2021. His commitment to growth and healing didn’t stop there—today, Mark is a Certified Recovery Specialist at Meadow Creek, a women’s facility in Pine City.

Mark often reflects on how far he’s come, describing each day as a blessing. Surrounded by people who truly care for him, he’s found peace, purpose, and joy in helping others on their own recovery journeys.

We’re incredibly proud of Mark—not just for how far he’s come, but for the light he brings to others. His story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, and that with support and determination, a new chapter is always within reach.

šŸ’™ Let’s show Mark some love in the comments and celebrate the impact he’s making every day!

šŸŽ‰ Alumni Spotlight: Meet Travis Christianson!

In February 2023, Travis Christianson graduated from our substance use disorder program—and his transformation is nothing short of remarkable.

Travis spent years running hard: building a business, chasing success, and living fast. But behind the scenes, addiction was quietly unraveling his life. By late 2022, he was spiritually, financially, and physically broken.

That’s when he found Kinnic Falls—a ā€œdiamond in the rough,ā€ as he calls it. With the support of our staff and community, Travis began to heal. The recovery offered here didn’t just help him—it saved his life.

šŸ“ø Pictured here with his mother, whose quiet strength and unwavering love carried him through his darkest moments.

Travis’s success is not just a testament to his own courage, but also to the emotional endurance of a mother who believed in his healing even when he couldn’t see it himself.

Today, Travis still resides in River Falls, WI, and remains deeply involved in the recovery program, offering hope and guidance to others walking the same path.

We’re proud of you, Travis. Your courage and commitment inspire us all. šŸ’™

ā˜• Alumni Spotlight: Darren Graves, Owner of Selah Vie Bistro and Coffee Cottage 🌿

In 2014, Darren Graves walked through the doors of our substance use disorder program at Kinnic Falls Inc. carrying the weight of a life that had been shaped by struggle. Broken but not defeated, Darren committed himself to the hard work of recovery—learning, day by day, how to live without Jim Beam and rediscover who he truly was.

Fast forward to today, and Darren is the proud owner of Selah Vie Bistro and Coffee Cottage, a cozy and welcoming coffee shop nestled in downtown River Falls. It's more than just a business—it's a symbol of resilience, transformation, and hope.

Darren still keeps close ties with his former co-workers from Kinnic Falls Inc, speaking with many of them daily. The friendships forged during his recovery journey have become lifelong bonds. And one of his greatest joys? Welcoming current clients who stop by the bistro, often sent his way by a counselor or sponsor. These visits are more than just coffee breaks—they're moments of connection, encouragement, and mutual support.

Darren’s story reminds us that recovery is possible, and that healing can lead to beautiful new beginnings. If you're in River Falls, stop by Selah Vie. You’ll find great coffee, warm smiles, and a living testament to the power of perseverance.

šŸ’™ We’re proud of you, Darren.

🧠 Recovery Starts with Health—and a Whole Lot of Heart šŸ’ŖšŸ’™
Making informed, sober choices is the foundation of recovery—and nourishing the body is a big part of that journey.

This Recovery Month, we’re celebrating the Health dimension by spotlighting our amazing cook, John Clair, who crafts nutritious, healing meals for our clients every day. His dedication to their well-being hasn’t gone unnoticed—our clients recently awarded him the Golden Spatula as a symbol of their gratitude and appreciation. šŸ„„āœØ

Healthy choices, one plate at a time. Thank you, John, for feeding both body and soul.
