When a child is diagnosed with cancer or a blood disorder, the entire family begins a long and challenging journey. At Manning Family Children’s, we walk alongside more than 2,000 children from across Louisiana and the Gulf South who are cared for by the hospital’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders each year, offering expert care, comfort, and hope.

Thanks to a generous $100,000 Impact Award from Hyundai Hope On Wheels, we can continue to ease the financial burdens families face during their child's treatment, so they can focus on what matters most: their child’s healing.

Following the donation presentation, patients were invited to leave painted handprints on a Hyundai vehicle that will travel the nation throughout September, during , while the organization awards $27 million in grants to children’s hospitals across the country.

Every handprint tells a story of strength, courage, and hope. 🖐🎨 Thanks to Hyundai Hope On Wheels and their $100,000 Impact Award, we can continue caring for children with cancer and blood disorders while supporting the families who walk beside them.

The Impact Award will be used to provide assistance to families facing financial burden, helping to cover the cost of necessities like food, medication and housing and helping to amplify the experience of patients and families who are receiving care in the hospital.

👏👏👏 After two previous attempts, Lou Fragoso, President and CEO of Manning Family Children’s, crossed the finish line of the Leadville Trail 100 Run on Sunday morning, with patient Brian Marelo by his side to represent the incredible strength and resilience he sees in our patients every single day.

Over the course of 29 hours, 12 minutes and 16 seconds through the heart of the Colorado Rockies, Lou endured one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world – an event that has defeated him twice before. But this year, with a renewed sense of hope, Lou set out to finally cross the finish line by combining his passion for running with a purpose near and dear to his heart – the patients cared for at Manning Family Children’s. The vision for 100 miles. 100 kids. 1 mission. was born.

For each mile, Lou carried the name of a patient to honor their inspiring stories, with the goal of raising awareness and mission-supporting funds along the way. A huge thank you to everyone who joined the moment, and supported Lou every step of the way!

Race weekend is here! In less than 24 hours, our President and CEO, Lou Fragoso will tackle one of the toughest challenges a person can face both mentally and physically – the Leadville Trail 100 Run, an ultramarathon through the heart of the Colorado Rockies!

We have been truly humbled by the community’s response of our 100 miles. 100 kids. 1 mission. movement. With each of our miles sponsored, and some even double sponsored, many generous donations, and countless words of encouragement, we have brought important awareness to our mission and to our kids’ extraordinary stories of strength and hope.
