We use a phonetic or speech test during denture try-ins to ensure proper fit and function. 😬 Words like “Mississippi” help us assess sibilant (“s”) sounds. These sounds reveal whether the closest speaking space (CSS) and vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) are correct. 😉

Whistling suggests too much space or teeth positioned too far forward, while “sh” or “th” sounds indicate too little space or teeth positioned too far back. This testing allows us to make final adjustments for natural speech and comfort. 🦷

We restored their smile & now the patient has a great smile, chewing function, & facial tissue support possible with an upper denture that is supported with Implants and lower implants and crowns. 😬
