We’ve all heard of terms like “ambulance chaser” and “runaway (or nuclear) verdict” to disparage injury attorneys and keep verdicts/settlements low.
Believe it or not, this is by design: to restrict a human being’s right to civil justice and to devalue human life an dignity. Simply stated, it’s propaganda by insurance companies.
This propaganda is called “Tort Reform.”
The belief is this: If insurance companies can stigmatize personal injury lawyers and cases, as well as devalue injuries/health, there is little hope for holding corporations that, say, put profit over safety, or drivers that send emails in school zones, accountable. Accountability means that an insurance company will have to pay out on claims. Obviously, an insurance company wants to keep all its money and invest in stadiums and venues and line the pockets of executives.
The goal is, if enough people in a community hate lawyers and think it’s a money grab, the insurance companies make more money.
I, for one, cannot stand for this.
We must value health and safety in our community more than medical bills and lost wages. The loss of the things we love and care about, the things that give us pleasure and comfort and joy are not worthless—it’s all we have as human beings and we must be aware of these dark forces before it’s too late; before it’s us that are the victims and we’re told it’s all our fault, and the loss of the things that makes you, you, is worthless and to be ashamed we sought justice in the first place.
This is ANTI-TORT-REFORM. This is the beginning where we start to educate the community about those dark forces that seek to steal our dignity, and at the same time, enable others to escape accountability.
Watch and share.
