RISE Life Services

RISE Life Services Supporting 32 residential homes for those living with developmental, intellectual and mental health disabilities since 1984.

Family members of the developmentally disabled established ADD in 1980. These family members were concerned about the physical and emotional decline of patients compelled to live in crowded institutions where the care was custodial and the staffing and programming insufficient and inadequate. These family members were convinced that appropriate treatment and training in a warm, sheltered, homelike environment would enhance their physical and emotional growth. In March of 1984 Aid to the Developmentally Disabled opened its first residential program. It is located in the hamlet of Northville, Riverhead, Long Island. As a result of the initial success in Northville, ADD rapidly grew into a multi service organization. Providing residential programs, supported apartments, clinical supports and case management services to developmentally disabled adults and those with mental challenges on Long Island’s East End.

Rise Life Services and The People’s Arc of Suffolk are teaming up once again to support people with developmental disabilities—and this year, the stakes are higher than ever. Our fearless fundraisers will compete to raise the most money, and the top fundraiser(s) will take the ultimate plunge with a live dive into the shark tank during the event! 😱🦈

She deeply cares about those who are vulnerable and believes every individual supported by Rise deserves the very best, including state-of-the-art safety equipment in the homes they call their own.

Jeanette Permenter, Chief Executive Officer of Rise Life Services, is fundraising for the 2026 Shark Tank Showdown at the Long Island Aquarium!

For more than two decades, Jeanette has dedicated her career to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. She has seen firsthand the trust families place in Rise when their loved ones call it home, and that trust means everything.

The challenge: fundraisers are competing for the chance to be dropped live into the shark tank, and the top fundraiser will take the ultimate plunge! 💦 🦈 For Jeanette, however, this is about much more than sharks, it’s about supporting the mission and the people she serves every day.

💙 Why I’m Diving In

At Rise, we provide safe, supportive homes for individuals served through OPWDD and OMH. Through this fundraiser, we’re raising critical funds to install fire-rated safety doors in every Rise residential program. 🦈 From Faith to Fearless, Father Reiss Is Taking the Plunge🦈

If Father Reiss raises the most amount of money, he’ll be taking a dive in the Shark Tank at the Shark Tank Showdown on March 31st

Meet our diver Father James E. Reiss! Ordained in 2021, he serves as Rector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Chaplain for the Marine Corps in the Navy. At Rise Life Services’ Program Without Walls, he works with individuals volunteering in the Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, and Thrift Shop. Fun facts: he plays jazz piano, fears sharks, and enjoys long walks on the beach!
