We’re walking to challenge the status quo of healthcare! Will you join us?

Not only are we proud to be the main sponsor for the event, but we’ll be there walking alongside our community showing our support and helping raise funds for local hospitals and programs including services geared towards those with Breast Cancer, and providing access to those in need.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, literally or figuratively! 💐 Every woman is a mom in some way, and today we celebrate them.

We enjoyed classical keyboard music from David Lo Nigro, assembled flower bouquets and and had coffee, tea and cheesecake for dessert. Plus received a lovely gift from the staff!

All-Star Residents get All-Star Treatment! ✨ John has been with us for the last 2 and a half months working hard to get back home. When he arrived he needed an aid to help with sitting and standing, and now he’s walking out on his own!

We honour our discharged patients by making an announcement to gather the team (donned in our special Acadia jerseys), and gift the resident their own souvenir to go home with that reads “I slam dunked my rehab at Acadia!” 🏀 Once the ball is through the net, they go through the door.

It’s always bittersweet, but our short-term resident goal is to always get them back home!

Happy Cinco De Mayo! We celebrated by watching the parade televised live from Brooklyn, enjoyed some coffee and Tres Leches cake, and partied with the Human Piñata – our Assistant Administrator Dan Mazzone!

Cardio Drumming is all the rage- and we have it right here at Acadia! 🥁

Cardio drumming combines an aerobic workout with drumming movements, giving the opportunity for a variety of potential health benefits including:

– Improving cardiovascular health
– Lowering blood pressure
– Reducing stress and anxiety
– Increasing strength and endurance
– Strengthening immune systems
– Improving coordination

Cardio drumming is a low-impact workout designed for any age and fitness level, and is made accessible by modification for those with injuries or other limitations. It can also help improve motor skills and hand-eye coordination- plus it’s so much fun to dance and move along to the music making this an all around perfect activity for our residents.

“ Dear Ms. Brennin,

I feel it is important to reach out and complement your staff on the wonderful care they provided Pat during her stay at Acadia. I can't single out specific individuals because that would be a disservice to some of the folks whose names I don't know. Suffice it to say that all of the people I encountered were very caring and helpful to Pat as she went through the last weeks of her life.

Even after she passed and I returned to collect her things, I was greeted by many of the staff that had helped her. Each of them expressed their sincere condolences. That was both appreciated and emotional for me.

Finally, the sympathy card I received signed by those same people was very special.

As a final comment, the support provided by your staff made this difficult time as comfortable as it could be for both of us.

Please extend my sincere thanks to the B Unit staff.

We went to prom! ✨ There was dancing, live entertainment, and we even crowned Prom King & Queen! What a joyous evening reliving youth and celebrating life, as everyone mixed and mingled.

Special thanks to The Riverhead Leo & Lions Club for this excellent evening.

A bit about The Riverhead Leo & Lions Club, who we often collaborate with and adore being visited by: They are a community service organization that focuses on improving health and well being, who strengthens communities and helps those in need. The Riverhead Charter School Leos Club is an extension of our Riverhead Lions club with the same mission and members, are hopefully the future of the Lions Club.

The Riverhead Bible Club visitations are a wonderful way to meet people in our community and spend some time together in fellowship. ⛪They always arrange different activities and creative opportunities, and for this program even brought surprise gifts for the winners.

Cooking Club meets monthly to create something decadent 🍽️ This time we baked Raisin Scones with raspberry jam, and of course enjoyed a nice cup of tea. The scones were absolutely delicious, and we can't for next month!

Our home is your home! ✨ Today we created decorative plates to store rings, jewelry, loose change, or even display trinkets and small sentimental items. Residents deserve to feel as comfortable as possible, and small touches like this help them make a space their own.
