Do you know teens interested in fantasy, science fiction, video games, and/or superheroes? Are they struggling with social skills, depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues? Are they looking to connect with other teens sharing similar interests in the Inland Empire? If so, I'll be offering a Tabletop RPG Therapy Summer Camp for teens to help them build confidence, develop social skills, and connect with members of the geek community. This five day camp will use movies, games, and outdoor activities to explore mental health issues that affect them. The sessions are June 24th - 28th from 8 am to 5 pm. Ages 12-17. I believe that we live our lives mythologically and that the narratives we construct have a measurable impact on our lives. If we tell ourselves that life is a battle, it has a different effect than if we tell ourselves that life is a journey, or a stage, or a game.

There are times when our narratives prevent us from moving forward. As the old adage says, “If your only tool is a hammer, every problem begins to look like a nail.” I believe that the role of the therapist is to help clients discover new narratives and tools, whether it’s finding new approaches to old problems or understanding other people's stories.
