This February we will learn and practice Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). MSC is a powerful tool that can help you acknowledge and change difficult thoughts, emotions, or feelings. As mamas, we are constantly navigating a lot of different emotions and feelings. Wouldn’t it be good to have one more tool to utilize in time of need? This week, for example, I am struggling because my daughter starts daycare after almost three years of being home with Mama. I have been wrestling so much with this decision. Last week, I practiced MSC and it helped me recognize that I am not the first or last mom that has to send her daughter to daycare. In MSC we called this shared humanity. Connecting with other moms and understanding our shared humanity helped me arrive at this decision and honor that many parents before me had to drop off their children at daycare, preschool, or school at some point. For some reason, just that acknowledgment itself, helped me feel better about my decision.
