Summer is here, and heat is not something to mess with. Stay safe with these tips to avoid heat stroke and know when to seek medical attention. Our urgent cares are here for you!

Tips to prevent heat stroke:
Hydrate often: sip water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
Seek shade and plan outdoor activities for cooler parts of the day (morning/evening).
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat; don’t forget sunscreen.
Take regular breaks: rest in air-conditioned or shaded areas, especially during workouts.
Watch for warning signs in yourself and others: fatigue, dizziness, confusion, headache, nausea, rapid heart rate, and hot, dry skin.
Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat (afternoon hours).
Never leave children, seniors, or pets in parked cars.

When to seek medical attention :

Very high fever (above 103°F/39.4°C) or symptoms implying heat stroke
Confusion, agitation, slurred speech, seizures
Rapid or very weak pulse, shallow breathing, or dehydration with poor skin turgor
Heat-related symptoms that don’t improve with rest and fluids after a short period
