Honoring Our Fallen seeks volunteers to assist in purchasing and placing flags out on gravesites at Riverside National Cemetery for Memorial Day. Riverside National Cemetery is the only national cemetery in the Southern California area that has no organized effort to do this. The sheer size of the cemetery (225,000+ gravesites) makes it virtually impossible for the cemetery to fund such a program.

The public is welcome to participate in placing flags out on gravesites for Memorial Day; however, the cemetery requires it to be done at the volunteer’s sole expense. Here is an example of the impact your gift will have to help each and every gravesite proudly display an 8” x 12” US flag this Memorial Day.

• $100 gift will purchase 100 flags
• $250 gift will purchase 250 flags
• $500 gift will purchase 500 flags
• $1000 gift will purchase 1000 flags

Our service members have dedicated their lives to protecting this great country we live in. Your gift will have a significant impact on helping us to honor these men and women this Memorial Day by placing a flag on their gravesite. We have opportunities to help bind and repair flags in the repair area too if you aren't able to get out there retrieving them flags!

Memorial Day Flag Placement–

Our ceremony will begin in the amphitheater at 8:00 am on Saturday, May 24th.

Flags will be passed out at the completion of the ceremony, 8:30 am, and not before.

We will return to retrieve the flags on Tuesday, May 27th, and hope you will be able to join us to help get everything put away for next year. No sign up or registration necessary.

MISSION COMPLETE-

We are filled with gratitude and want to thank all the volunteers who joined us this past Saturday to place the flags, as well as those who helped us in retrieving them.

Our team is currently conducting a final sweep of the cemetery, and we are pleased to report that all flags have been successfully collected.

We look ahead and are hopeful we for your continued support for Memorial Day and Veterans Day in 2025. It takes a village, and we are incredibly thankful for the number of volunteers who come together to make this possible.
