Phases of the Moon.

All the way back in 2011, I started making candles with a friend in her kitchen. Two years later in 2013, we parted ways, and I moved production to my own kitchen. With this, Ship Shape Candles was born. Named in respect to my grandfather’s naval background, Ship Shape became a family effort, of sorts. My son Nick, my nieces Julia and Heather, and even my husband Kevin got involved, learning the process of candle-making, setting up for shows, and helping make orders. After a brief hiatus, I decided to start the flame burning again, and in February of 2020, Ship Shape Candles was rebranded to Full Moon Candles. Along with the new name and new look, Full Moon also has a new home. I will no longer have candles cluttering my kitchen counters, jars stacked up in my closet, or a cabinet full of scents that permeate the house. For the first time ever, I will be able to sell candles from Full Moon Candles’ retail space at 541 Cinnaminson Ave. in Palmyra, NJ.

The decision to keep the store in Palmyra was an easy one. I am very involved in this community, as is my family, and I couldn’t imagine Full Moon anywhere else. I am an EMT serving the Palmyra, Riverton, and Cinnaminson area. My husband, Kevin, is a firefighter as well as a police officer here, and my son, Nick, recently became the fifth generation to join the Cinnaminson Fire Department. My sister-in-law, Karen, is a teacher in Palmyra, and my brother-in-law, Keith, works with Riverton Public Works. Meanwhile, my father-in-law is retired from the Cinnaminson Fire Department, and my mother-in-law is a crossing guard in town. So many members of my family serve our community, and I am so proud of this. It is a tradition that I am thrilled to be a part of, and I’m so glad that I am able to give back to this community. Whether I'm responding to calls, inviting on-duty first responders to Thanksgiving dinner, or sitting with the ambulance at Palmyra High School football games, I care about this community and the people in it.
