As we honor our veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, it is a good time to also consider surviving veterans who may struggle to pay for care. Many people are unfamiliar with the VA Aid and Attendance program. This program offers a monthly payout to qualified veterans and/or their surviving spouse who require the regular “aid or attendance” of another person to assist them with activities of daily living. This benefit is available to individuals who live in assisted living, care homes, skilled nursing facilities, or who receive in-home care.

If you know a veteran or their spouse who may benefit from the Aid and Attendance benefit, let me know. I can direct you toward resources to help with the application process.
