Sometimes the things we criticize most about ourselves were actually ways we learned to survive. Hypervigilance, shutting down, overthinking, people-pleasing, emotional numbness—these responses often begin as protection. Healing starts when we stop asking, “What’s wrong with me?” and begin asking, “What happened to me?” 💙
