MEMBER OF THE MONTH: RENEE

What brought you to OTF?
I had a friend that was one of the first members in Bannockburn and I was intrigued! I joined Riverwoods in 2016 when it opened. I love that I can get a great, supervised workout in an hour. The environment is positive and fun, and I have made so many great friends through OTF!

What is a goal you have for the future with coming to OTF?
My goal is to continue working out every day at OTF! If that means I have to modify what I'm doing, that's ok. I just don't want to miss a day!

If you could give a new member advice what would it be?
Don't concern yourself with what anyone else is doing. Do what feels good to you.

How would you describe OTF in one word?
Efficient!

What is your favorite OTF floor exercise?
Deadlifts!

What is your favorite thing to do
outside OTF?
Hang out with my family and my friends!

Fun Fact about yourself?
I am the proud owner of Irv's Luggage, an amazing travel store just a stone's throw down Milwaukee from the studio! Many OTF members are our customer's!

Since joining Orangetheory Lawrence in September 2024, Andres has been on a mission to live a more active, balanced life — and he’s doing just that.

Originally from Costa Rica and now studying supply chain management and accounting at KU, he’s juggling workouts, recovery, and academics with heart and hustle. His favorite part of OTF? The community. Because nothing beats the kind of motivation that comes from pushing through a tough block side by side with friends.

Since starting, Andres has gained strength and built muscle, and he's now working toward bouncing back from a knee injury — one step at a time. All with Timber on blast and the Jayhawks in his corner. 🏀

Member of the Month: TONY

What brought you to OTF?
The BGRW studio opened up in 2015. It was the first gym by me that used metrics alongside cardio and strength workouts that can be done in an hour. I also like the group workout format, which provides social interaction with trainers and members. It had everything I needed in a gym.

What is a goal you have for the future with coming to OTF?
My goal now is to maintain and not keep going up and down. So far, I am currently the lightest I have ever been in 15 years at 150lbs. I started out at 178lbs. I think if I really watch my diet and eat cleanly, I might be able to break the 150lbs mark. Also, I would like to break the 8-min mile in the next benchmark.
In Fall 2014, my Dr. warned me that if I do not lose weight and work on my diet, I could become obese and diabetic and rely on medication the rest of my life. That was a wakeup call for me and so I started getting more consistent with my workouts starting with Hell Week and going through the Weight Loss Challenge. I am happy to say that at my last physical, my Dr. was surprised and said my bloodwork is at exceptional levels, just through diet and exercise. No meds for me.

If you could give a new member advice what would it be?
Be consistent and just make sure you get through those doors. There was never a workout I ever regretted, no matter how much I dragged my feet getting there. Also, make sure you have an emergency gym bag in your trunk. Be ready to go anytime you get an opening in your schedule and use the app. Between BGRW and Kildeer, you can make any time work for your schedule.
Take advantage of the metrics tools that OTF offers. Take a body scan, weigh in and take pics of yourself when you first start and keep noticing your progress every 2 months. You would be surprised to see how far you have come.


How would you describe OTF in one word?
It's hard to limit to just one. Dynamic. Energetic. Efficient.

What is your favorite OTF floor exercise?
I always like doing those alternating side planks where you kick your leg up front and to the side.

What is your favorite thing to do outside OTF?
My wife and I were once huge obstacle course racers - Spartan, Tough Mudder, Savage Race, Warrior Dash. We used to travel across the United States every weekend to run these races together. Now that we have little kids, we spend a lot of our time at Disney Parks trying to survive the lines and the heat and the screaming kids. Obstacle course races were a lot easier.

Fun Fact about yourself?
I used to DJ a lot 10 years ago. I would DJ for OTF events, so that's how I was connected to the studio. I would also DJ at City Works every summer and fall. Kids slowed that all down and now I only know Cocomelon and Disney songs. I am also a big time pro wrestling fan. I have been watching every match since WrestleMania

Each coach brought kindness, enthusiasm and energy to each workout and pushed me to get splats. My wife, Linh, was also critical to helping me eat right. She reduced soda and sugar and carbs from our diets and made sure we ate healthier and leaner.
