Did you know bladder cancer is highly curable if detected and treated early? The month of May is Bladder Cancer Awareness month, so, what is bladder cancer?
Bladder cancer usually starts in the lining or inner layer of the bladder wall. As the cancer grows through the layers of the bladder wall, it becomes harder to treat.

Here are a few factors to BE mindful of:

- Smokers are 2 to 4 times as likely to develop bladder cancer as nonsmokers. This makes smoking the most significant risk factor.

- Men are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed with bladder cancer than women are. However, women are more commonly diagnosed with a more advanced form.

- Nearly 90% of bladder cancers are found in people over 55.

Ongoing treatment for cancer is critical for our patients. Because of this our physicians and team members are continuing to keep our radiation centers and many of our clinics open to deliver the highest quality of care for our patients.
