How does spinal decompression work? Dr. Christopher Lauria Disc Centers of America- Roanoke
Spinal decompression is a non-invasive treatment option for individuals suffering from back pain, neck pain, or other spinal conditions. This therapy works by gently stretching the spine to relieve pressure on the discs and nerves, allowing them to heal and function properly.
During a spinal decompression session, the patient lies on a specialized table that is controlled by a computerized system. The table slowly and carefully stretches the spine, creating negative pressure within the discs. This negative pressure helps to retract herniated or bulging discs, reducing the pressure on nerves and promoting the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the affected area.
By decompressing the spine, this therapy can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, and promote healing in the affected area. It is a safe and effective treatment option for many individuals suffering from spinal conditions.
It is important to note that spinal decompression therapy may not be suitable for everyone, and it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if this treatment is appropriate for your specific condition. Additionally, it is recommended to undergo spinal decompression therapy under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Overall, spinal decompression is a promising treatment option for individuals seeking relief from back pain and other spinal conditions. With its gentle and non-invasive approach, it offers a viable alternative to more invasive treatments, providing hope for those looking to improve their quality of life.
Research shows that spinal decompression has an 86-90% success ration with herniated discs.
