They sent us the Four Horsemen of the Cannapocalypse.

One powder. One crystal. One sticky resin. One oily mess.

All with different densities, polarities, and opinions on gravity.

They wanted a clean, stable product.
What they gave us barely qualified as ingredients.

This is the part no one talks about—
You can’t just throw cannabinoids together and hope they behave. You have to understand how each one breaks, then build a system to keep them from doing it.

Being Validated Means You May Now Be Blamed With Confidence

Should the pharmacopeias finally establish a standardized, validated method for cannabinoids?

When someone says a method is “validated,” it doesn’t just mean it works.
It means it’s been proven—scientifically, statistically, and operationally—to produce reliable results under real-world conditions.

Of course we color tablets, we're not cavemen!
Why color tablets?

Because visual differentiation prevents dosing errors.
Because consumers remember what they can recognize.
Because brands deserve more than a lineup of beige.
Color is function: it guides, it signals, it speaks.
And in the world of precision dosing, even hue is data.
We don’t color for vanity.
We color for clarity.
And occasionally—for the sheer joy of doing it better.

One of our new tablet punches showed up with… a dot. Can you spot it?

Tiny. Perfectly centered. Suspiciously innocent.

Surrounding it? Concentric machining lines—those fine circular striations left behind by precision CNC tooling. To most, they’re just a visual texture. But to us, they’re a signature. They tell a story about the punch’s journey: cut, centered, finished.

The dot in question? Likely a machining center point—used to align and stabilize the punch tip during manufacturing. It’s common, usually harmless, and often symmetrical enough to disappear into the tablet design.

But here’s the catch: if that dot is raised, off-center, or deeper than intended, it stops being a mark of precision and starts becoming a defect. Every tablet it touches could carry that dot—magnified at scale.

So we paused. Inspected. Documented.

Turns out it was perfectly normal. No raised edges. No transfer to tablet faces.

Still, we check. Every time.

Long lead times. Missed launch dates. No updates for weeks.

We hear it all the time.

At Imbucanna, we do things differently.

We make solid dosage forms—but more importantly, we build solid relationships. That means open, honest, and immediate communication from day one.

This clip? That’s what it looks like when your product is built to run—and your partner is built to scale.

Let’s scale something solid.

The Joy of Barely Noticeable Brilliance

There’s an undeniable pleasure in incremental brilliance. Anyone can claim to have turned their life around overnight, but it takes genuine sophistication to improve oneself imperceptibly. Like the clever adjustment of a haircut that attracts vaguely complimentary confusion, the art of microdosing is delightfully elusive.

Microdosing isn’t about dramatic transformations; it's far more subtle and sophisticated than that. It doesn’t shout; it whispers politely, like a butler suggesting you might prefer tea to tequila at 9 a.m. It provides the quiet satisfaction of doing something beneficial without the dramatic inconvenience of actually feeling radically different.

0.3% THC... 100% Optimism

Somewhere in a converted warehouse, under flickering LED lights and next to a very expensive wiped-film still, an extractor leans back in his chair, sighs deeply, and mutters the daily prayer of the Farm Bill faithful:

“Just legalize it already.”

Because if you’re in this space, you know the game. You’ve danced the 0.3% tango. You’ve diluted. You’ve distilled. You’ve stared at lab results like they were tarot cards. And still, you press on—formulating, packaging, and explaining to people that, yes, it’s cannabis, but no, it won’t get them high, and yes, it’s federally legal, and no, their cousin’s experience in Colorado does not apply here.

Every summer, I’m reminded just how much I learn from the next generation.

Meet Evan Collins, our intern from Roanoke College Cannabis Studies who’s diving headfirst into the world of GMP manufacturing, precision formulation, and the beautiful chaos of building something real.

It’s easy to get lost in SOPs and timelines—but watching someone discover the “why” behind it all makes it feel brand new again.

Here’s to training great scientists, and learning from them too.

Our Blend Has Elegantly Sidestepped the Inconvenience of Uniformity

We recently ran a particle size distribution (PSD) analysis on one of our new product blends. The results were...creatively inconsistent, highlighting risks of segregation, dosing variability, and tableting headaches.

Here’s how we plan to correct this:

Granulation (wet or dry): Use roller compaction or wet granulation with controlled milling (40-mesh screen, ~420 µm) to standardize particle sizes.
Separate Pre-blending: Denser materials pre-blended separately to prevent segregation.

Bridging Excipients: Incorporate medium-sized excipients like MCC 102 (~100–200 µm) to bridge particle-size gaps.

Optimized Lubrication: Briefly blend lubricants to minimize re-segregation.

Uniformity might feel inconvenient, but it’s essential for tablet quality.
How would you correct this particle size challenge?

The Most Civilized Way to Be Unwell
In conversations with leaders from dietary supplement, CBD, and THC brands, I've noticed strong enthusiasm around gummies—they’re colorful, enjoyable, and dominate retail shelves and social media ads. Capsules remain quietly reliable, while tablets ("pills") sometimes feel overly traditional, even outdated, especially in the rapidly evolving cannabis market. But are brands accurately reading consumer interest?

To find out, I recently reviewed Google Trends data within the "Health" category, comparing consumer searches for tablets, gummies, and capsules over the past five years. Here’s what emerged clearly:

Tablets (pills) maintain consistently higher consumer interest, significantly ahead of gummies and capsules.
Gummies show steady growth and strong market presence, yet they still lag notably behind tablets in consumer curiosity.
Capsules, while commonly used, surprisingly trail both tablets and gummies, indicating limited consumer enthusiasm.
