🌿 The Stages of Grief

Grief doesn’t follow a straight line — it moves, shifts, and circles back. The stages of grief help us understand the emotional terrain, but everyone’s path looks different.

💭 Denial – “This can’t be real.” Our mind protects us from the shock of loss.
💭 Anger – “Why did this happen?” Anger often covers pain that feels too big to face.
💭 Bargaining – “If only I had…” We search for control in something uncontrollable.
💭 Depression – The weight of reality sets in. Sadness, emptiness, and withdrawal are all normal responses.
💭 Acceptance – We begin to make peace with our loss — not forgetting, but learning to live with it.

✨ Healing isn’t about “getting over” loss. It’s about finding a new way to hold love and memory at the same time.

💙 If you’re navigating grief, you’re not alone. Support can help you find steadier ground.

When emotions feel overwhelming, your body’s chemistry needs a reset before your mind can calm down. That’s where the TIPP skill comes in — a fast, effective way to regulate intense emotions.

💧 T – Tip the Temperature:
Cool down with cold water, ice packs, or a splash of cold on your face. This lowers your heart rate and helps your body relax.

🏃 I – Intense Exercise:
Move your body! A quick burst of activity—like jumping jacks or a brisk walk—burns off adrenaline and restores balance.

🌬️ P – Paced Breathing:
Breathe in slowly (count to 4) and exhale longer (count to 6). This activates your body’s calming response.

🧘 P – Paired Muscle Relaxation:
Tense, then release each muscle group to relieve physical stress and ground yourself in the moment.

✨ Use TIPP anytime you feel emotionally flooded. It’s one of DBT’s most powerful grounding skills to bring you back to calm.

Grief is one of the most universal, yet most misunderstood, experiences we go through. ❤️

Many people say “time heals all wounds,” but that isn’t always true. Grief doesn’t disappear; it changes us. We never truly “move on from loss” — we learn to carry it differently. We learn to live with the holes left behind, and in doing so, we honor both our love and our loss. We learn to celebrate the memories, even through the pain.

As therapists, we often remind clients:
✨ Healing is not about forgetting.
✨ It is about finding ways to keep moving while still holding space for your grief.
✨ It is about allowing joy and sadness to exist side by side.

If you are grieving, please know you are not broken, and you do not have to walk this path alone. Support is available through loved ones, community, and professional help.

💙 is here to walk with you through the hard seasons.

✨ Healing doesn’t always mean talking it out.

If you’ve been through something painful, you might know how exhausting it can feel to keep re-telling the story. That’s where EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) comes in.

💡 Instead of focusing only on talking, EMDR helps your brain re-process difficult memories so they don’t feel as overwhelming in the present.
Think of it like taking a heavy file off your desk, organizing it, and putting it safely on the shelf — it’s still there, but it doesn’t clutter your space or weigh you down anymore.

✅ Why clients choose EMDR:
• Works faster for many people than traditional talk therapy
• Helps reduce nightmares, flashbacks, and anxiety
• You don’t have to re-tell every detail of your trauma
• Backed by research and recognized by the World Health Organization as a top treatment for trauma

💙 Many clients say they finally feel lighter, calmer, and more in control after EMDR.

👉 You don’t have to carry the weight of your past forever. Healing is possible.
