🎉 A Century of Life, Legacy, and Love at Cardinal Senior Living 🎉
Today, our Cardinal Senior Living family had the joy and honor of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone — the 100th birthday of one of our beloved residents Frank. Reaching a century of life is extraordinary on its own, but hearing his son Andy share stories from his incredible journey made the day even more special.
Andy painted a beautiful picture of a life filled with resilience, purpose, and heart — the kind of life that inspires everyone lucky enough to hear about it. Frank was born in Huddersfield England in 1926. At age 18 he taught electronics in the Royal Air Force. He worked for English Electric, the company that built the Lightning Fighter Jet – England’s first supersonic fighter. It was so fast it broke the sound barrier on its first flight by accident! He moved to the US in 1962 and worked for General Electric, living in Marblehead Mass and Utica NY. He’s very proud to have lived in retirement longer than he worked for GE! At age 68, he sailed from Massachusetts to Virginia Beach on a square-rigged ship called the HMS Rose as part of the crew. The trip took a week. The ship offered a trip sailing across the Atlantic, and his son jokingly told him he wouldn’t be a real sailor unless he did it – so he did! He helped crew the ship across the Atlantic at age 70! The trip took a month, and the crew worked in shifts around the clock. When he retired, he and his wife lived in Port Ludlow Washington for 20 years until coming back to the East Coast to be closer to family. What an incredible life!
Because Frank is a citizen of both England and the USA, he also received birthday cards from King Charles and Queen Camilla and from the White House.
Here’s to 100 years of memories — and to the joy of celebrating many more moments together. ❤️
