• What went well this week?

• What do I need this weekend to recharge?

Mental health isn’t just about hard moments — it’s also about noticing the good ones.

🌟Meet the Board

We are proud to recognize, Board Member Mykala Sauls, who is serving her third consecutive year as Affiliate President of NAMI Roanoke Valley.

What began as a volunteer role has grown into a deeply meaningful part of her life. Through her work with NAMI, Mykala's children, family, and friends have expanded their understanding of mental health and gained greater awareness of the resources available within the community. She has also built lasting relationships with some of the most compassionate and dedicated advocates in the Roanoke Valley.

Outside of her volunteer leadership with NAMI, Mykala works as a Human Rights Advocate with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). In this role, she is committed to protecting the rights and dignity of individuals receiving behavioral health services.

Mykala firmly believes that mental health influences every aspect of our daily lives and that caring for our own well-being while supporting others is essential.

When she is not volunteering with NAMI, Mykala can be found cheering from the sidelines at her children’s sporting events, supporting Cub Scout activities, volunteering with other community organizations, and crafting.

We are grateful for her leadership, dedication, and passion for mental health advocacy.

💛Thank you, Mykala, for helping make our community stronger.
