Update Your Program Status

As the COVID-19 national emergency continues to unfold, Child Care Aware of Virginia will do our best to ensure that child care providers and consumers are informed of important decisions regarding public safety and child care operations. Today, March 23, 2020 Gov. Ralph Northam extended his order that all Virginia public and private K-12 schools close in response to COVID-19 for the remainder of the school year. As Virginia’s Child Care Resource and Referral Network, we are working diligently to ensure that families who need care in order to continue to work are able to find it.
Your assistance in that is greatly appreciated.

Child Care Aware of Virginia COVID-19 Statement:

We recognize that child care is an essential service that keeps our society functioning. For those who must continue working, it is even more critical than ever. We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty right now as more schools and businesses continue to close in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but please know that partners are trying to ensure that child care has a voice in the national conversation concerning federal aid. There are many unknowns and we are trying to learn as much as possible and lean on the advice of our state and national health experts as the situation continues to unfold.

Child care teachers, healthcare workers, restaurant staff, grocery store and pharmacy staff, etc. are all on the front lines keeping society afloat through this crisis - and none of them can work without child care. Now is the time to come together as a society to ensure that we are operating as smoothly as we can in the midst of CDC recommendations to remain socially distant.

CHILD CARE PROVIDERS- If you are closing your business, please inform your licensing inspector and Child Care Aware of Virginia of your plans. If you are remaining open and have availability to take more children, especially for essential frontline workers, PLEASE let us know as well. As Virginia’s Child Care Resource and Referral Network, we are working diligently to ensure that families who need care in order to continue to work are able to find it. Your assistance in that is greatly appreciated. Please take a few seconds to complete the survey linked here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ccaovacovid19
