Today was Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven, so of course we had to celebrate with our residents! Check out those smiles! 😁

Today, we took a group of our residents to the Virginia Safari Park located in Natural Bridge, VA! We enjoyed a wagon ride through the park, getting a chance to interact with and feed the animals! We ended the day with lunch under the pavilion!

Today for Garden Club, the rain kept us under the porch, but that didn’t stop us from talking about all things that have to do with gardening and making our own flowers! 🌼 Thank you to the Master Gardener volunteers for leading this activity for us!

Happy CNA Week to our wonderful care associates! We appreciate all your hard work and dedication you put into taking care of our residents and enriching the lives of those we serve!

This week was full of fun events in honor of our awesome CNAs - here is a recap!

~ Monday was Pajama Day, and we served fresh popcorn and gave out take home movie buckets! 🎥🍿

~ Tuesday was Aloha Day! Everyone came to work in their Hawaiian shirts and the Rad Shack came by to serve snow cones! 🍧🌴🌊

~ Wednesday was “We are the Champions Day” and we celebrated with a huge cookout which ended with a water gun fight and dunking the managers in the Dunk Tank! 🍔🌭

~ Thursday was Decades Day and everyone got a sweet treat at the candy bar or a banana split! 🍭

~ Friday was Fiesta Friday, and we served walking tacos! 🌮🪅

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! 💙 We celebrated our Fathers with a Donuts with Dad social, and oh boy, was it a big hit! Everyone enjoyed a donut from Krispy Kreme with a coffee to wash it down! 🍩☕️

Happy Wednesday! Today, we took a trip to the National D-Day Memorial located in Bedford, VA! It sure was hot out there today, but we enjoyed seeing this beautiful memorial!

For the Garden Club today, we took a group of ladies to a local greenhouse to pick out some pretty new flowers to plant in our raised flower beds in our courtyard! 🌸🌷🌼

We hope you enjoyed Memorial Day! We honored those who served this country, and we remember those who sacrificed their lives, so we could live freely! 🇺🇸 This past Thursday, we celebrated Memorial Day with a cookout for our residents and their family members! A huge thank you to the Brother's Young duo for entertaining us with their bluegrass show! We enjoyed some good food, good music, and quality time with our loved ones! 🍔 🌭

Happy Wednesday! We ventured out to El Rodeo for lunch today for some tasty Mexican food! Everyone enjoyed their meals and came back to Brookdale Roanoke with their bellies full and smiles on their faces! 😁 🌮

A huge thank you to The Bridge Church Choir for coming to Brookdale Roanoke to perform for our residents! We thoroughly enjoyed their performance, and we are looking forward to having them come again! 🎼

Each Sunday, we hold a church service for our residents in the community center led by Chaplain Elisa's YouTube channel "Spiritual Eldercare." Chaplain Elisa's channel is dementia-friendly by making her services easy to follow along, engaging, and showing the hymn lyrics and Bible verses up on the screen. Our residents love Spiritual Eldercare and Chaplain Elisa's church services! ✝️
