"I’m 42 years old and have Charcot-Marie-Tooth. I have lived with it my whole life. I’ve always had problems with feet and pain. Walking has always been a struggle and has gotten a lot worst. I finally took a step in right direction and I’m so thankful that Sharidy and Va Prosthetics was who came to me and has helped me so much. The whole experience has been so great. All staff there has made my experience the best it could be. Took time with me. Has made me comfortable in every way. Sharidy is so helpful. And determined to help anyone. Takes her own time and really works to make you comfortable. She is a blessing in her area of work. I highly recommend her my experience was amazing and I feel so much better in a lot of ways I’m my life. I really appreciate so much what they all have done for down to the receptionist."

This is a great read! We can't emphasize enough how important it is to be specific with all the members of your healthcare team about how your limb loss affects your daily life.

Doctors can read your chart and evaluate your symptoms. But they might not understand the physical and emotional challenges that amputees face unless you tell your story with clarity.

Meet Nidhi Doshi, she says "I would like to share a personal story that has shaped my journey & taught me valuable lessons along the way.

Twenty years ago, I experienced a life-altering accident in which I lost my right hand above the elbow. It happened during a time when elevators had mechanical doors. I dropped my handkerchief inside, and as I reached to retrieve it, the elevator suddenly moved, resulting in the devastating injury. Although I didn't fully grasp the severity of the accident at that young age, I immediately realized that my ability to draw, something I excelled at, was profoundly impacted.

As a hobby ,I also create paintings of artists and loved ones, which I gift on special occasions. I would like to share an artwork I created of my brother and his wife, a testament to the joy and fulfillment that art brings to my life. I didn't lose hope. I persevered and completed my schooling and architectural degree. The thing about living with any disability is that you adapt, you do what works for you and that has made me an Architect & Interior Designer and an independent person. I've been working in an architectural firm for many years now, grateful for the unwavering support of those who have stood by my side throughout this journey.

As a hobby, I create paintings of artists and loved ones, which I gift on special occasions. I would like to share an artwork I created of my brother and his wife, a testament to the joy and fulfillment that art brings to my life.

Looking ahead, I am reminded that everyone faces their own challenges. The purpose of this post is not to dwell on the hardships I've encountered, but rather to emphasize that we all have struggles.

My advice to all is to work hard, but also prioritize your health. Spend quality time with your family, and extend kindness to those around you.

Life is a remarkable journey, and I am excited to see what it has in store for each and every one of us.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story." - 📸 : nids187/IG

Elayna Alexandra avoided sports growing up, especially those that involved a ball. But now, as an amputee, she has found joy in belonging to a team that breaks down boundaries unites people in a common goal.

Caring for skin on the residual limb is so, so important for our patients with limb loss. Do you have any tips to share?

Upon becoming an amputee, I quickly found out that, while I now had one fewer arms than most, I needed to add an extra skin-care regimen.

This happy little girl is Willow! 🐾 She's 9 years old, and we've recently been working with her and her dad, David, to fit her with a prosthetic leg.

Willow had already lost her leg when she entered the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection, where David first met her. The best guess is that she lost it in an accident with a vehicle.

David says Willow had been doing well with three legs but that she was easily fatigued. He's hoping the prosthetic will help increase her stamina and allow her to run and play for as long as possible.

Stay tuned for more about Willow's story! We're so excited to get to work with her and David!

"The ladies in the office went above and beyond to ensure I received my AFO quickly. They coordinated with my physician at UVA which helped make the insurance process very smooth. The lady at the front desk is very kind and knowledgeable. Everyone at this location makes you feel like you are their only client. I highly recommend them!"

Created with iron and non-ferrous metal, the prosthetic was still attached to the remains of the left hand, and is believed to have once been covered with leather.

The prosthetic was found in a grave in the Bavarian town of Freising
