Last week, our Memory Care unit also celebrated Assisted Living Week-and it was EPIC! We kicked things off with a sweet visit from the Green Ridge Kids Club, sharing dessert and playing table games. From there, it was non-stop fun:
Beach Bash with tiki games & surfside sing-along
Undersea Wonders Silent Disco
Adventure Outing to the Science Museum
Ageless Adventures display boards

This week, we celebrated Assisted Living Week and our theme of Ageless Adventures! Our residents took a trip through time-and what a journey it was! We kicked off in the 1920's with paper dolls, a "speakeasy" happy hour, and a classic film. The 50's brought trivia and karaoke fun. The 70's got groovy with a silent disco party and we wrapped up the 80's and 90's with crafts like boom boxes, disco balls, and slap bracelets. Adventure truly has no age!

August Pawsitive Moment!
This month, we celebrated a very special birthday-our beloved facility dog Hank turned six years old! Hank's big day was filled with lots of love and belly rubs from his friends across our Nursing and Rehab Center, Memory Care, and Assisted Living communities. He received thoughtful gifts, sweet cards, and endless affection from residents and staff alike. To honor the joy Hank brings every day, we hosted a heartwarming "Adopt-a-Pet" event in his name. Residents selected their favorite plush pets, lovingly named them, and received their very own Pet Adoption Certificate after promising to care for their new furry friends. Happy Birthday, Hank-you are truly paws-itively priceless!

There's no place like the NRC!

Last week, the residents and staff of the Nursing & Rehab Center took a magical trip down the Yellow Brick Road with a Wizard of Oz-themed adventure! From Bingo games where residents earned ruby red slippers, to a visit to the Emerald City with mocktails and lessons from the Cowardly Lion, the fun never stopped! They made mandalas, learned some "dangerous beauty" facts and got crafty with our Poppy Fields collage. The week wrapped up with a cooking class making Over the Rainbow cupcakes. Even Hank, our facility dog, got into the spirit as the Cowardly Lion!

We're proud to announce that our amazing Activities Team in the Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Memory Support Center has won Second Place in the National Skilled Nursing Care Week event, awarded by Virginia Health Care Association - Virginia Center for Assisted Living! This recognition comes as part of VHCA-VCAL's D.A. "Woody" Brown Community Involvement Awards, which celebrate creativity, professionalism, and dedication in designing programs that enrich the lives of residents and their families. With this year's NSNCW theme--"Tapestry of Life"--our team went above and beyond to create meaningful, entertaining, and engaging experiences for everyone in our care.
