We recently raised a glass for a great cause at our Cocktails for a Cause event-this time with special gin-themed cocktails crafted by our Dining Director, Darla. It was a wonderful evening all in support of something truly meaningful. Every dollar raised goes directly to our Scholarship Program, which was born from the deep appreciation our residents have for the many high school students who work here. The goal is simple yet powerful: to help these students pursue their dreams while easing the financial burden of furthering their education-whether that's college, trade school, apprenticeships, certification programs, or other continuing education opportunities. Since launching in 2022, this program has awarded nearly $25,000 in scholarships. We're so proud of the impact this initiative continues to make-thanks to the generosity of our residents and support of our staff. And as we continue to grow, we're always excited to welcome new student team members. As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to thank ALL our volunteers for their dedication and hard work. From supporting the Auxiliary, helping with Sensory Garden clean-ups, donating to PORCH, writing letters, assisting with activities and administrative work to spending meaningful time with our residents-you truly make Brandon Oaks and the surrounding community a better place to live.

Today we had the the honor of celebrating a truly special milestone-Abraham Traynham’s 35 years of service at Brandon Oaks. Since beginning his journey on April 16, 1991, Abraham has been a steady source of compassion, dedication, and care as a CNA, touching the lives of so many residents and families along the way. We are so grateful to celebrate this incredible achievement with him!

After many months of anticipation and construction, we were thrilled to welcome our residents into our newly expanded and renovated Dining Room for a special preview last Friday! After a blessing and celebratory toast they had the opportunity to walk through and admire the area. We are so grateful for our residents’ patience throughout the process. The best part? They officially get to dine in the new space this evening.

When it’s cold enough to feel like the Alaska frontier, you lean into it. Our Assisted Living residents have embraced the winter fun with a Moose mixer, frontier and Alaska-themed activities and crafts, and even a confidence course to kick off the new year. A great reminder that trying something new-and having confidence in ourselves-can make any season a little brighter.

We’ve been keeping the winter blues away with lots of indoor fun at the NRC & Memory Care Unit! Balloon battles, curling, and drum fitness! We also celebrated Dolly Parton’s birthday in true Dolly style with a “Here we Strum Again” party led by Anderson Music Therapy, a special visit from the RSO, and residents creating their own coat of many colors.
