⚡ Tingling, weakness, or numbness that keeps getting worse could be your nerves trying to tell you something.
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, or CIDP, is an autoimmune condition that affects the peripheral nerves. It occurs when the immune system attacks the protective covering of the nerves, disrupting the signals that control movement and sensation.
Early symptoms may begin gradually and can include tingling or numbness in the hands or feet, progressive muscle weakness, difficulty walking, balance issues, or fatigue in the limbs.
Because these symptoms can develop slowly, they are sometimes mistaken for other conditions or simply attributed to aging. Early diagnosis is important because treatment can help slow the progression of nerve damage and improve function.
If you are experiencing persistent weakness, numbness, or changes in sensation, a neurological evaluation can help determine the underlying cause and guide appropriate care.
