What makes your work so rewarding?

Seeing the impact in people’s lives. You’re often helping residents and families through some of their toughest moments in their lives. Watching them regain their strength and independence is incredibly rewarding.

Why have you chosen South Roanoke to serve those in need?

South Roanoke is a special place as I like to say it’s a hidden gem. When I first walked in the facility, I immediately felt the family atmosphere. The care and compassion provided here at South Roanoke is amazing. These are all important aspects when you consider where you would like to serve those in need.

If someone were considering a career in your position, what would you advise them and what could they look forward to?

Social work is an incredibly fulfilling profession. Always remember to be a light in their lives. Sometimes you are the smile they look forward to seeing each day. You never know the impact you will have on others so try to be a positive one.
Everyday: show compassion, have patience, be an advocate.
