Important reasons why wisdom teeth are removed:
1. When wisdom teeth are impacted or growing through at an angle, they can cause damage to the tooth next door. 2. They can burrow into the tooth or press too tightly against another tooth which can cause permanent damage.
3. They can trap food and enamel destroying bacteria close to the tooth next door. This can result in decay or permanent damage to the adjacent teeth.
