On September 13, 2025, Heaven welcomed home one of God’s faithful servants, Deaconess Lois Cooper Paige. A devoted servant of God, she lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and selfless service.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched countless lives with her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart. Her heart was a wellspring of generosity, always ready to give and uplift those around her. Everyone who crossed her path felt the warmth of her spirit and the sincerity of her love.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Charlene Graves, born and educated in Roanoke, was a member of the Lucy Addison High School Class of 1966. She earned a BA in Art Education from Norfolk State University, an MA from the College of New Rochelle, and an MS in Supervision and Administration with a visual arts focus from Bank Street College and Parsons School of Design.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at the L.H. Hamlar Event Center to honor Charlene's life the way she wanted - with a beautiful, upbeat celebration.
