On September 13, 2025, Heaven welcomed home one of God’s faithful servants, Deaconess Lois Cooper Paige. A devoted servant of God, she lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and selfless service.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched countless lives with her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart. Her heart was a wellspring of generosity, always ready to give and uplift those around her. Everyone who crossed her path felt the warmth of her spirit and the sincerity of her love.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home & Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Charlene Graves, born and educated in Roanoke, was a member of the Lucy Addison High School Class of 1966. She earned a BA in Art Education from Norfolk State University, an MA from the College of New Rochelle, and an MS in Supervision and Administration with a visual arts focus from Bank Street College and Parsons School of Design.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at the L.H. Hamlar Event Center to honor Charlene's life the way she wanted - with a beautiful, upbeat celebration. Overflow parking will be available across the street from the event center at Due South Barbecue. Transportation back to the event center will be provided for those who desire it.
