Today was another super blessed day for my residents and me. The Roanoke Valley Harley Owners Group did their annual Christmas potluck dinner , giftgiving , and fill the pantry for Restin South. Mike Puckett put it all together and organized and coordinated. First we had a big spread of food for lunch- hams and meatballs and potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, scalloped corn, and cheesy broccoli , rolls, lots of different salads and desserts.., yummy yummy…. Mike gave a short history of the tradition….then it was time to open gifts-Johnny’s’ kids handed out the cards and many people gave gifts to the guys. Paul and Lisa-I miss you and thank you. Susan and Kenny, Sandy and Dave, Mike and Linda . Mick, Walt, and all the generous people who donated to the pantry. It’s always so much fun and excitement and the men really have a great time . The greatest members on earth give of their time and money and I’m sure some sacrifice their own family time to spend time with mine. Restin South has been blessed by this tradition for near 30 years now?!! Wow! Channel 7 came out to see what it was all about and to share the story of the 3 vets and how they did the shopping at Sam’s . Like an assembly line. It was a fabulous day and we are so blessed to have so many friends and families who care about us and are filled with the Spirit of Christmas. What a blessing!

Yesterday Restin South was treated to a very special bundle of gifts! What a great present from Cindy and Bill Price from the Sirens and Salutes organization. Isn’t that a wonderful name for a charity organization that serves veterans and first responders?? Absolutely!!They gave us boxes of chips,crackers,and cookies, and many cartons of drinks! Candy bars and hand sewn patriotic hearts. All the vets got a new hat with their service branch on it!! And to top it all off the wonderful person who delivered it also organized it! She brought with her some delicious homemade bbq, Cole slaw, banana pudding, and green beans(from her garden). Also from her summer garden she gave us canned squash, spaghetti sauce,apple sauce,pickles,and chow chow.. Our thanks to Sam and her daughter Kayla N. For being the special people they are… we’ve had a great Veterans Day and are full of great food!! We are blessed. Much love to you all… TJ and the residents of Restin South,🇺🇸❤️
