The Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind is one of the largest providers of early intervention in the state, but it is cutting back.
“We won’t stop providing those services,” said Dennis Gilliam, the agency’s director. “But we are reducing the number of students we have on our caseload after this year, after students age out.”
He said changes to how services are reimbursed by the state made it hard to continue at current levels.
