🎉 HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE! 🎉

From Robins, Iowa all the way to Nashville, Tennessee… our very own Joyce just became the FIRST-EVER resident speaker at the Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference!

Joyce took the national stage to share her experience as part of Emery Place’s Resident Takeover initiative, talking about what it’s like when residents truly have a voice in their community. From helping plan activities and shaping the menu, to interviewing future staff members and welcoming new neighbors, Joyce showed the entire country what resident-centered senior living can look like.

And the best part?
She absolutely CRUSHED IT and received a standing ovation from the crowd!

We are beyond proud of Joyce for representing Emery Place, the state of Iowa, and senior living residents everywhere with such heart, humor, and authenticity.

Joyce, you didn’t just attend the conference… you made history.


We were also incredibly honored to connect with the Green Bench Initiative, a movement focused on combating ageism and encouraging meaningful conversations across generations. After hearing about the work happening at Emery Place, they gifted us our very own Green Bench to bring home and launch the initiative here in the United States. What an honor from Schlegel Villages. Thank you!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our drive-through fundraiser today at Emery Place! 💜

Because of your kindness and support, we raised over $300 for the Alzheimer’s Association and served 62 amazing people! From warm smiles to delicious treats and community connection, today was a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special.

We are so grateful for every donation, every visit, and every person who helped make this event a success. Together, we are helping bring awareness, support, and hope to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. 💜

Today we celebrate the women whose love built generations. 💐

At Emery Place Assisted Living & Memory Care, Mother’s Day is filled with beautiful memories, warm hugs, laughter around the table, and stories that still live on through every family gathered here.

Some of our mothers spent years packing lunches before sunrise, waiting up late at night, cheering from bleachers, holding tiny hands through hard days, and somehow making every house feel like home. Even now, that love still shines brightly in the smiles, wisdom, strength, and gentle hearts we are blessed to know each day.

Today we honor every mother, grandmother, bonus mom, aunt, caregiver, and mother figure who has loved so deeply and selflessly. Your fingerprints are forever woven into the lives you helped shape. 🌷

To the families missing their mothers today, we are holding space for you too. Love like theirs never truly leaves the room.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Emery Place. Thank you for the stories, the sacrifices, the recipes, the lessons, and the love that continues to make this community feel like home. 💕

Everyone’s been talking about Coffee & Tunes, and now it’s got an exciting new twist! Our residents voted to turn Thursday mornings into the ultimate combo of music, laughter, and breakfast pizza.

Join us each Thursday as we sip coffee, enjoy hot slices of breakfast pizza, and test our music knowledge with games like:

From classic hits to favorite throwbacks, it’s a morning guaranteed to be a slice of fun! Around here, we believe good music and good pizza are the perfect recipe — even if things get a little too cheesy. 😄🍕

🤠✨ History In The Making! ✨🤠

We’re proud to announce that our very own Life Enrichment Director, Michael Guinane, alongside Better Living CEO, Dani Merlino, are heading to Nashville to speak at the Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference on May 19th about Emery Place’s groundbreaking Resident Takeover case study.

Over the last eight months, Emery Place has been reimagining senior living by giving residents a true voice in their home. Through the Resident Takeover initiative, residents help lead decisions about activities, menus, events, interviews, community culture, and so much more. Instead of staff deciding for residents, residents are helping shape the direction of the community alongside our team — proving that when residents lead, communities thrive. 💙

And here’s the part we’re especially excited about… 🎤✨
We’re proud to announce that Joyce will become the FIRST-EVER resident speaker at the Argentum conference, helping share Emery Place’s story on a national stage.

The cowboy hats are ready 🤠, and we’re only a few flights away from Joyce making history in senior living.

🥁🍓 Introducing a brand new twist on Cardio Drumming at Emery Place… “Drums & Danishes!” 🍩🎶

Our residents decided that if we’re going to work hard drumming along to our favorite songs, we should celebrate afterward too! After a resident vote, freshly baked danishes officially became part of the fun.

There’s nothing better than great music, lots of laughter, a little cardio, and sweet treats shared with friends. Around here, we believe wellness should be joyful — and our residents continue proving that exercise can be something to look forward to! 💙
