Do you have a 9-12 year old son? We are hosting a therapy group called S.M.A.R.T which explores social skills, awareness, communication, decision making and teamwork to name a few. This will be a small size group which will allow us to support, navigate and create a safe environment for all the children in attendance. Spots are limited. Expressive Art is another great way to connect with patients! This picture was created by an 11 year old who was instructed to place a pencil to the paper and turn the paper which created scribbles. Then looking at it from different angles she was asked to create a picture of what she saw. End result a worm with a leaf looking at a leaf!!! 🍃 🖼️ The clinician saw a brain and a heart. We explored the idea of letting go of perfection and expectation creating something beautiful from scribbles on the paper. 🎨❤️

As a clinician it is important to get creative and connect with patients in a creative way. These are pictures of legos completed by multiple patients over the course of the last few weeks. This activity can be done while talking and exploring critical thinking skills, problem solving (sometimes a piece is missing), following directions, communication and teamwork. The Ferris wheel is an 8+ Lego set completed by a 5 year old during session whom struggles with frustration tolerance, delayed gratification and verbalizing needs.
