📚🌈 Waltonwood University celebrated Read Across America Week with the Primary Grade at Oak Arbor Montessori School in Rochester!

The children enjoyed two colorful books — Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert and Rainbows by Scholastic — sparking great conversation about nature, colors, and how rainbows grow in the world around us.

After story time, the students got creative and made their own beautiful rainbow crafts while sharing what they learned. 🎨

Thank you to the wonderful teachers and students at Oak Arbor Montessori for allowing us to be part of such a joyful week of reading and creativity.

We love partnering with our community to inspire young minds! 💙📖

Happy National Meatball Day! 🍝

Our residents had a delicious time in the kitchen during today’s cooking demo, learning the secrets to making the perfect homemade meatballs.

From mixing the ingredients to sharing stories about family recipes, it was a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, teamwork, and of course—plenty of taste testing!

🎭✨ Adventure by Waltonwood: A Trip Down Memory Lane ✨🎭

Yesterday, our Life Enrichment Manager, Donna Donakowski, had the pleasure of escorting 99-year-old resident Tillie Haelewyn and her family to a special performance of The Sound of Music at the beautiful Fox Theatre as part of our Adventure by Waltonwood program.

Tillie, who is of Austrian descent, has always loved music—especially live musical theater. The outing was particularly meaningful for her, as she fondly remembers many “date nights” with her husband when they served as ushers at the Fox Theatre years ago.

Being back inside the historic theater and driving through downtown Detroit brought back so many wonderful memories.

Tillie was absolutely thrilled to experience her favorite musical performed live on stage once again! Moments like these remind us how powerful music, memories, and meaningful adventures can be. 💙

Our residents had an amazing time on their recent trip to the Legasea Aquarium and Reptarium! 🐠🐍

They loved exploring all the incredible exhibits, getting up close with fascinating reptiles, and watching the colorful fish swim all around them.

From curious critters to beautiful aquatic life, there was something exciting to see at every turn!
