Ajit Goenka, M.D., and Aadel Chaudhuri, M.D., Ph.D., recently joined Jake Tapper on CNN’s The Lead to discuss two groundbreaking Mayo Clinic advances in cancer detection powered by artificial intelligence.

Dr. Goenka highlighted a Mayo Clinic-developed AI model capable of identifying pancreatic cancer on routine CT scans up to three years before clinical diagnosis, while Dr. Chaudhuri discussed a first-of-its-kind blood test designed to better predict patient response to immunotherapy.

“AI is the tool of our generation,” Dr. Goenka shared. “It’s going to bring a revolutionary transformation to what we do today.”

Dr. Aadel Chaudhuri and Dr. Ajit Goenka join The Lead.

The VIR team is prioritizing wellness and team building 💪

In recent months, team members took part in a division-wide fitness challenge - motivating one another while competing for top spots, with winners earning a private instructor-led Lagree class. 🏆

Several team members also participated in the annual Goldy’s Run in Minneapolis, choosing from distances like the 10 Mile, 10K, 5K, or 13.1 Challenge - all while supporting M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital and pediatric heart care. 🏃‍♀️❤️

Procedural skills lab training 🩻✨

The General Radiology practice at Mayo Clinic in Rochester recently launched a hands-on training initiative to support surgical technologists as they adapt to increasing equipment variation, exam complexity, and the fast-paced operating room environment.

Hosted in the Procedural Skills Mastery Lab, sessions provided a low-stress space to build confidence, refresh skills, and gain experience with key technologies like the O-arm, GE OEC 3D Elite, and Ziehm systems. With support from the Stealth team and the use of realistic models and phantoms, technologists engaged in practical, case-based learning.

Participants highlighted meaningful improvements in technical skills and team collaboration—reinforcing a strong commitment to continuous learning and staff development across Rochester Radiology. 👏
